We’re ready to make our beds…raised beds for growing! We’re bringing urban agriculture and small farms to low-income residents in South Los Angeles, as part of our Original Green Community Food Plan.
Tipping Point Goal: $1,500
Total Funding Goal: $3,500
We have recently received and started preparing two growing sites -- and they need to be planted! Our tipping point gets us materials for 12 raised beds at Site Two (wood, mulch, compost, amendments, plants), basic development of the site as a creative social space for communal gatherings (including materials for kids to make sound and visual garden art; pathway gravel) and 10 hours of resident food production training. The total goal gets us 12 more raised beds for Site One (which includes concrete removal), integrated tables and seating for both sites, establishment of our neighborhood fruit gleaning program and an awesome delivery bike to bring food to others in the community. Yes, all this!
Certainly, our goals are ambitious, but we know they’re not only doable, they’re sustainable! Your support is a major part of a larger goal to establish a wholly integrated food system that we hope will serve as a model for other small farms in urban communities.
