How can you help save lives? By supporting Hesperian's efforts to help people in poor and remote areas access health information on their mobile phones! Your support for this campaign will help us create a pilot of a mobile phone application including information about pregnancy and birth. This project will help people who might not have access to doctors or hospitals--or even to other sources of information. Join us in pursuing "Health for All!"
Have you ever thought, “I need to know that right away,” or, “I wonder how I do that”? For people in the developed world, the solution is often a web search or a cell phone app. Now, thanks to increasing mobile phone use in the developing world, people in rural and marginalized areas are also turning more frequently to technology to answer their questions about many subjects, especially health.
In order to provide accurate, up-to-date health information that people need and can use, Hesperian is developing mobile phone apps that will present our proven health content on a small screen. Our campaign seeks to raise funds for the development of our first app, a module about pregnancy and birth that will help women stay healthy and safe during pregnancy and childbirth.
At our tipping point of $6,000, we will be able to make a basic app that includes information about nutrition, healthy pregnancies, what to do in an emergency, and other basic health information. Between $6,000 and $10,000, Hesperian and our development partner, UnaMesa, will be able to add additional features, such as interactive features or the ability for users to store their own notes. Each $1,000 increase between $6,000 and $10,000 will add one layer of functionality.
Join us in our mission to provide life-saving information to under resourced communities everywhere and reach our goal of “Health for All!”
