Funding for salaries for handicapped employees is needed. I am looking for financial support, so people starting this project can get it off the ground.
Three areas will be addressed during the first two months:
1. Programming:
a. Basic web site with simple mailing list
b. Development of a section of the database having to do with collection of information from the states
2. Research
a. Start the search for charities and other resources for handicapped people
b. Gather information about federal, state and local programs
b. Learn from IRS what tax incentives exist
3. Social Media
a. Get accounts for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other appropriate social media outlets established.
b. Start the use of social media.
Researcher: Full-time, $2,000 (handicapped person, me)
Researcher (2): Part-time, $500/month * 2 = $1,000 (two physically challenged people but not completely handicapped)
Programmer: Part-time, $1,500 (not handicapped - This person is willing to help me get started. However, I am looking for a handicapped person to do this task.)
Social Media: Part-time, $700 (handicapped person)
Logo and T-shirt design: $100
One-Time Expenses: Incorporation and first year ($150), Legal Preparation of Application for 501(c)3 ($500), IRS Charge for Application for 501(c)3 ($400)
T-shirts and other promotional materials: As much as $1,000 can purchase and shipping for those receiving them by mail as the result of a donation or support.
Almost every promotional item will feature a light of some kind except for those items that don't come with a light. If there is something that I have identified as being without a light, and you know where I can find one with a light, please let me know.
Without a Light but With Name: Inexpensive pens and pencils.
With a Light, All With Name, Some With Logo: Pens, key-chains, flashlights, straws, sunglasses
Fees: $650 to pay the 3% PayPal fee and the 5% Start Some Good fee.
TOTAL FOR KICKOFF: $8,000
TOTAL FOR FOUR MONTHS AND MORE: $32,000
If the tipping goal is met, these employees will be able to work for 2-3 months. By that time, clear progress will have been made. Additional campaigns may be needed to continue the project for between one and two years by which time advertising revenue and donations should be sufficient to keep the work ongoing. Any money in excess of the tipping goal will go toward salaries and any additional promotional materials. Except for the yearly fee for the business license in Georgia, the other expenses for incorporation and the 501(c)3 application will not be repeated. The $100 for the logo will not be repeated, either.
Every effort will be made to hire and train the handicapped. The only exception is the programming. If I can find a handicapped person with the necessary experience, that person will be hired. The individual who is going to help me start the programming is a student who is doing me a favor.
