Just For Today is and addiction recovery talk show podcast helping thousands of recovering alcoholics and addicts live healthier and more productive lives.

The Future We Are Creating

According to the National Institute of health, nearly 17.6 million adults in the United States are alcoholics or have alcohol problems.

In 2008, there were an estimated 7 million drug addicts in the United States according to the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

That's a total of nearly 25 million Americans - for comparison, that's more than the entire population of the state of New York - who are suffering from a debilitating disease and who are a financial liability to society and possibly a danger to those around them including their family members

Our mission for the next year is to help at least 1 million people overcome the devastating effects of alcoholism and drug addiction, and put them back on the track to health and productivity so that they can be a productive asset in their families and communities rather than a liability and a danger.

In 2010 our website was destroyed by hackers and rebuilt. A year later we took the site down due to lack of funding to update the website and operating system. We recently started the process of rebuilding the site from the ground up.

Within the next few years we also plan to create a platform for producing a variety of non-profit educational, health-related podcasts each of which helps millions of people live happier, healthier and more productive lives. Our goal is to expand our focus beyond alcoholism and addiction and publish podcasts related to other health issues such as obesity, depression and anxiety, with a focus on those issues that most adversely impact individual productivity and which effect large percentages of the population.

How We Are Creating It

Mobile computing is the fastest growing technology in the history of mankind. Each year as prices of mobile devices drop, bandwidth and data speeds increase, and more and more people come online educational information becomes more and more accessible. We believe that the power of affordable connectivity and on-demand media will greatly impact the health of society as a whole. As the producers of Just For Today I am excited to be a part of that sweeping change.

Just For Today has helped an estimated 200,000 addicts and alcoholics with their recovery. We have published more than 120 episodes with an average length of 20 minutes per show (more than 40 hours of programming to date).

All of our interviews are with listeners who have volunteered to share their story, and their experience, strength and hope with their fellow listeners. We often get letters from listeners from around that world telling us how Fust For Today has been a valuable resource in their road to recovery.

The interviews are conducted over the phone and the audio files are edited and converted into a podcast friendly filetype. They are then uploaded to our podcasting module along with a short description. The rest happens automatically via RSS feeds, blog pingbacks, podcast directories and search engine indexing.

We are planning the addition of a community forum to the website so that our listeneres can ineract with each other. We are also planning to create a presense on the top social media sites such as Facebook, Google+, Twitter, YouTube, and others.

We feel it will be easy to vastly increase our reach via PR campaigns, mobile apps, and social media campaigns, and to leverage our platform and experience to expand into other areas of heatlh education.

Our Story & Why You Should Support Us

Just For Today was founded by media and marketing professional Rick Schettino and the show's host, "Dan S."

Dan is an experienced sports talk show DJ, and veteran of the Alcoholics Anonymou program. He has 20 years of sobriety under his belt. Dan records the show from his home in Rhode Island. (Due to the traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, Dan must remain anonymous.)

Rick is a serial entreprenuer who has been in the marketing and publishing field since the mid 80's. Rick is the founder of Performer Magazine, a nationwide trade publication for independent musicians. He is also an experienced talent scout, record producer, and audio engineer. Rick also has more than 10 year's experience in professional website development and internet marketing managing development budgets as high hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Rick currently makes a living as a successful freelance marketing consultant who has helped scores of small starups businesses become profitable ventures and has been part of the startup team for a handful of multi-million dollar ventures.

For fun, Rick writes and performs original music and produces a music video web series called Trop Rock Odyssey.

With your support, Rick would like to put his array of media and marketing skills to better use and help millions of people around the world live healthier, happier and more productive lives.

Rick and Dan helped an estimated 200,000 alcoholics and addicts with their recovery in the past few years. If they can do that with no money and no organization, imagine what we're capable of with sufficient funding and organization.
