Investours contributes directly to poverty alleviation in Mexico and Tanzania through cultural “microfinance tours.” We bring small groups of socially responsible tourists to meet artisans who are applying for small loans. Revenue from each tour is pooled and disbursed as an interest-free micro-loan to help grow one of the businesses. Later, we engage our tour alumni to stay involved in our microfinance efforts and committed to fighting global poverty.

The Future We Are Creating

We are creating a future where travelers engage with the communities they visit in a direct and meaningful way. We are committed to channeling the incredible revenue generated by tourism to the developing communities that need it most (and often benefit the least from growth in the tourism sector). Most importantly, we are creating a future where people in impoverished communities have greater access to the tools they need in order to build a business and lift themselves out of poverty.

How We Are Creating It

We are creating this future through our innovative model of "microfinance tourism." In order to contribute to poverty alleviation, we generate capital for micro-lending through tourism. We make possible interest-free loans, provide business training for our artisan clients, and work to generate interest and support for microfinance efforts. As we continue to expand, our network of socially responsible travelers will grow stronger, creating a world where travelers feel a responsibility to give back to the places they visit.

Our Story & Why You Should Support Us

Investours is directed by a young, passionate team with a belief in the power of our "microfinance tourism" model to contribute directly to poverty alleviation. We do not lack hard work or motivation, but are in need of resources to continue building our operations. We have already contributed over $20,000 in the form of interest-free loans in Mexico and Tanzania and we believe we could expand exponentially with a small amount of investment.
