Haitian Reality: Parents give their kids to orphanages because they can't feed them. HaitiCoF helps these kids - especially neglected and vulnerable kids. Help us start a small farm to feed our brood and provide work to mothers in our program so they can earn money, feed their children - and keep them out of bad orphanages. Our aim: Give these mothers an opportunity for self-sufficiency in a sustainable and healthy way. The Future We Are Creating

Many people ask, "What is the future of Haiti?" Her children. HaitiCoF gives children who have no future - who are neglected in orphanages, or vulnerable and sick a chance for a future, to re-integrate children with their families and give them transitional support - and a way back to their community.

We are helping to change the face of the future one child - one woman - one family at a time by providing a means of self-support so they can create the future they dream. "Farming for Families" is a great way to help realize their dreams.

How We Are Creating It

HaitiCoF advocates for an alternative model to Haiti's institutional orphanages. We have small family based homes and educate Haitian caregivers to provide appropriate care for children. Caregiver training includes awareness of basic care & development of children, basic skill training in medical & sanitation care, nutritional education, home management and life skill development.  

HaitiCoF is renting a large plot of land, creating a small farm for greater self-sufficiency and giving the women who participate in our program an opportunity to run the farm, sell produce & related products at market. They will be able to earn a living to support their children, afford a roof over their heads, and keep their families intact.

Our Story & Why You Should Support Us

Our project is an on the ground, real time story of changing people’s lives. We work for people - families that live in such abject poverty that they are forced to give their children to self-serving, greedy individuals who misrepresent themselves and misappropriate donated money and materials to enrich their personal lives - all at the expense of the most vulnerable; children.

One particular Haitian woman inspired "Farming for Families." She is a single mother and a rural farmer unable to find work. HaitiCoF provided a safe haven for her and her three children when in spite of being threatened she removed her children from the neglectful care of an orphanage. She did all this while still ill and weak after a recent child birth gone bad. Now, she is recuperating and reunited, for the first time in 4 years, with her children. In Haiti, where oppression and poverty reigns supreme, women in her situation are prey. We want to change that and that is why you should support us.

We want her and other women in the Haiti Circle of Friends house to achieve financial freedom and independence.  "Farming for Families" is the support they need to achieve this. The HaitiCoF family home benefits enormously from reduced food costs.
