We allow student fundraisers to double the impact of funds raised by investing proceeds in microloans prior to donating them to a local charity.

The Future We Are Creating

Our mission is to enable socially conscious students to address issues of global poverty by supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries while also supporting important local charities they are passionate about. 

Once we have successfully launched Charitable Innovations in Cincinnati, we hope to see the concept replicated in other cities, so that instead of raising tens of thousands for microloans, we can raise hundreds of thousands or even millions.

In addition, we hope to further educate students about global poverty, microfinance, and the power of entrepreneurship.

How We Are Creating It

Our Charitable Innovations team (which consists of student volunteers throughout the community) reaches out to students holding fundraising events and asks if they would like to make their event a Charitable Innovations event. 

In making this commitment, the proceeds from their fundraiser will be invested in microloans prior to flowing back to the local charity. We currently work with KIVA to make these loans. Once Charitable Innovations accepts funds from the student fundraiser, we make a pledge to the local charity for the full raised amount over a 3 year period. (the average time over which our microloans mature)

Charitable Innovations guarantees the charity will receive 100% of funds originally raised (the average microlender receives 99 cents on the dollar). We fund this small gap, as well as our nominal operating expenses, through our own fundraising activities and soliciting private donations.

Our student team has been actively involved with and raised funds for a variety of charitable organizations during our high school careers. We are leaders in both our communities and schools. The trust and respect that our team commands has already enabled us to generate excitement from many student fundraisers about "doubling the impact of their fundraising efforts" by making their events Charitable Innovations events.

We already have $2,200 invested and have around $6,000 in fundriasers already lined up. We have finally lifted off the ground and your support is fundamental in our ability to keep changing lives near and far!

2. Generate over $25,000 in microloans

We are highly passionate about creating a new model of fundraising that allows students to "double the impact" of their fundraising efforts.

To further ensure our success, we have assembled an advisory board of experienced adult entrepreneurs to mentor our student board and provide governance and oversight.
