CA Bikes Academy will teach at risk youth in Berkeley and Oakland areas, skills to make bikes, keep the skills & give their first bike to someone in need in Uganda.
CA Bikes academy will teach bay area at risk youth welding skills: brazing skills, basic machine shop skills & skills needed to make bicycles. This knowledge will make our graduates marketable while looking for jobs in this economic situation where employment opportunities are hard to find for anyone and even harder for those without a hands-on type of skill.

The products made will be sent to Africa through our sister Organization CA Bikes Uganda and distributed to people in need.

Tipping Point Goal: $25,000
Our tipping point is the minimum level of funding we need to get up and running with minimum equipment. Our tipping point will specifically allow us to have:
Working space
Simple machining tools like jigs, a brazing station, gloves, and masks.
This will get us rolling with our first students on bicycle frame building.
Total Funding Goal: $70,000
Helping us go beyond our tipping point will ensure that we get more machines like lathe, mills, & drills to increase the services we offer and most importantly build more bicycles, which will reach out to more people in Africa. Our total funding amount will also help us build a CA Bikes Academy website.
