Providing beds to students who lost everything in the fire at Byimana School of Sciences.
On Tuesday, April 23 at 8:00 AM, students and staff at the Byimana School of Sciences in Rwanda witnessed something terrible -- one of their main dormitories caught fire and burned to the ground. Although thankfully no one was injured, the fire destroyed all of the 260 student-residents' belongings, including suitcases, clothing, school supplies, mattresses and beds, all of which must be provided by the students or their families.
Each year, the Babson Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy (BELA) in Rwanda is hosted at the Byiamana School. The students and staff graciously allow us to use their facilities day and night to make these programs a reality, and ultimately change the lives of hundreds of students. As brothers and sisters of the community at Byiamana, we're calling on our friends and fellow members of the Babson community to lend a hand to help the students impacted by this tragedy.
Please join us in helping the community of Byimana rise from the ashes to continue making a difference in the lives of our students, our world, and our future.
Although the costs to rebuild the entire facility will be great, we can still make a significant difference. A $50 donation can provide a bed for a student in need. With 260 students and a large-volume discount, we can provide beds to ALL of those impacted for $10,000.
If $2,500 or more is raised, we will purchase individual beds for as many students as possible. We will continue fund raising and working with the school until enough beds are available for all students.
If $10,000 or more is raised, we will purchase beds for all 260 students impacted by the fire at Byimana School of Sciences. This is our ideal goal. In the event we surpass our $10,000 goal, additional proceeds will be used to purchase other items needed by the students, and/or to purchase items needed for the reconstruction of the facility.
